Top Ten Tuesday! (3)

This meme is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, where they are particularly fond of lists. This week's topic is in honor of Book Blogger Appreciation Week!

Top Ten Books I Feel As Through Everyone Has Read But Me
  1. Harry Potter (#2-7) - Okay, I finally did read the first one this past April, but I still get "those" looks when people find out that I haven't read Harry Potter beyond book 1. I know--it's apparently a cardinal sin for someone studying to be a youth librarian. But seriously, it's so hard to keep up with the books that I want to read AND schoolwork!
  2. TMI series - Indeed, I haven't read any of these books. I keep looking at City of Bones whenever I'm at B&N, but I can't convince myself that I will actually make the time to read it.
  3. Clockwork Angel - Okay, so I guess this is just me admitting that I haven't read ANYTHING by Cassandra Clare. I did by this one in the London airport with every intention of reading it on my trans-Atlantic flight...but I didn't.
  4. Soul Screamers series - These sound awesome and I WANT to read them. I really, really do. I even bought the first one on my Nook and I'm sure that I will love it...when I get around to it.
  5. The Wolves of Mercy Falls series - I even OWN the first two...SIGNED...and I still haven't read this apparently awesome series.
  6. Hourglass - So, ditto about just about everything else on this list--I WANT to read it and I OWN it...but I don't have the time!
  7. Paranormalcy - I'm beginning to realize just how many apparently fabulous, widely read books I own and haven't read...including this one.
  8. Bloodlines - I LOVED VA. Seriously loved. So I think I'm hesitant to pick this up because I'm always scared to read more by an author that I already adore. However, Penguin sent me a finished copy and I am seriously dying to read it.
  9. To Kill a Mockingbird - Don't ask me how I got out of high school and college without reading this book because I don't know. My uncle (who's a writer) gave me a beautiful boxed edition of this for my college graduation because he knows I love books and this is one of his absolute favorites. I honestly think if I don't read it before I see him again he'll have a fit!
  10. Sarah Dessen books - Okay, I've actually read one (Along for the Ride) and yes, I enjoyed it enough, but I haven't had a strong desire to read anything else by her.  However, bloggers are always raving about her stuff and there was an entire "Sarah Dessen" week.
There are (sadly) many, many more that I could put on this list (including an obscene number of 'classics'). So, please forgive me, lol! Tell me--if you could convince me to move ONE of these up on my reading list, which would you choose?!?!

Top Ten Books I Read Because of Another Blogger
  1. Shade by Jeri Smith-Ready - Two of my favorite blogger and Twitter friends ensured that I read this one, but the real thanks here has to go out to Neri @ In the Name of Books. I started reading this one and then stopped because I got really angry at Logan. She told me that I HAD to pick it back up and give him a chance. I am SO glad that she pushed me and I finished it!
  2. Jenny Pox by J.L. Bryan - Ashley @ The Bookish Brunette first turned me on to this book and it was AWESOME, just like she said it was! It was truly a steal on the Nook when I purchased it. Definitely worth checking out if you haven't already!
  3. Inside Out & Outside In by Maria V. Snyder - The first time that I heard about these books was when Rachel @ Parajunkee's View reviewed them on her blog. Her stellar review plus the fact that she has read a lot of dystopians and still loved these told me that I had to pick them up.
  4. Life as We Knew It by Susan Beth Pfeffer - This is another recommendation from Rachel @ Parajunkee's View.  Now, I haven't quite finished this one yet, but it is stellar.  Rachel's review of LAWKI is probably one of the most influential reviews that I've ever read. Trust me--read it and you will instantly feel like you need to pick up this book!
  5. Enclave by Ann Aguirre - I'm going to start sounding like a broken record, but Rachel @ Parajunkee's View got me to read this one as well! It's a fabulous post-apocalyptic dystopian--enough said.
  6. Firelight by Sophie Jordan - When many bloggers that I follow started getting excited about Vanish, the Firelight sequel, I felt a bit out of the loop since I hadn't read Firelight yet! Needless to say, the constant Firelight-ish chatter around the blog world left me desperately wanting to read this one and I loved it!
  7. Evernight by Claudia Gray - I'll have to give The Bewitched Bookworms the most credit for getting me to pick up this series because I won a copy of book 4 from them, which in turn convinced me to pick up book 1. However, I've read a lot of positive reviews of this series and just never picked it up before. I felt like it was time to give vampires another shot so I went with this one and I wasn't disappointed!
  8. Witchlanders by Lena Coakley - I grabbed this book from S&S Galley Grab, and it didn't strike me right away as something I was really going to enjoy. I don't often enjoy a lot of fantasy novels, so I continued to put this one off until it almost expired! When I started to see positive reviews popping up from bloggers I follow, I knew I had  to give it a chance. I can't believe I almost let this expire!
  9.  Ashes by Ilsa Bick - This is another one that I got from NetGalley and then let sit for a long time. I just never felt inspired to pick it up. A review from Rachel @ Parajunkee's View changed my mind on this one. I went home and finally downloaded the galley--and read it in a day! I couldn't put it down!
  10. Blood Red Road by Moira Young - Okay, so I haven't actually read this one yet, but I've read too many positive reviews from bloggers not to pick it up. I had downloaded this one from S&S Galley Grab, but the prose and lack of punctuation threw me for such a loop that I couldn't get through it. However, after months of reading rave reviews on it, I finally broke down, bought a copy, and am starting it over again. Y'all better be right on this one!

Top Ten Tuesday! (1)

This meme is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. I haven't participated before but this weeks topic caught my eye. And...with my upcoming 2012 challenge, I kind of couldn't resist, because heaven's knows I'm stoked for a ton of 2012 sequels!
  1. Insurgent by Veronica Roth - I dare you to read Divergent and NOT be waiting on pins and needles to read Insurgent.  Impossible. I need more Tris and Four. Seriously--NEED.
  2. Pandemonium by Lauren Oliver - Delirium was a book that surprised me by making me absolutely fall in love with it. It left us with such a cliffhanger too...
  3. Fever by Lauren DeStefano - Wither was a fabulous debut novel for Lauren and I can't wait to read about Rhine's continuing journey!
  4. Enshadowed by Kelly Creagh - Nevermore was a fabulous read (even if not a perfect one for me) and I can't help but wait impatiently for the sequel! There's so much I still need to know!
  5. The Nightmare Garden by Caitlin Kittredge - I loved The Iron Thorn, need I say more? There's still so much more to learn about Aoife and I can't wait!
  6. Shadows by Ilsa J. Bick - Okay, Ashes, which comes out today, has one of the best/worst cliffhangers that I've read in a long time. I could NOT believe it was over.
  7. Surrender by Elana Johnson - If you've read and loved Possession, there's no way not to be excited about this sequel (okay, companion novel--same thing). THE ENDING. O.o
  8. Shatter Me #2 by Tahereh Mafi - Hah, Shatter Me isn't even OUT YET! But trust me, when it comes out, you definitely want to get your hands on it. I promise that you will devour it--I did in one sitting!
  9. Fuse by Julianna Baggott - Okay, so Pure doesn't even come out until February but I'm already dying for the continuation. Pure left me begging to know what happened next.
  10. Dreamless by Josephine Angelini - Starcrossed is one of those books that I started reading and then stayed up into the early morning hours to finish. I just couldn't put it down!
Wow, that list was incredibly difficult to narrow down to just 10!! There are so many good series/trilogies just starting out there right now that it's hard to choose.  If you're interested, I'm hosting a challenge that focuses on sequels beginning in January and preliminary information can be found here. Check it out!
