TGIF is a weekly meme hosted by Ginger at GReads where she poses a thought-provoking question to prompt some blogger discussion!
This week's question:
Blogger Confession: What's the last book you could not finish? (or had a hard time finishing?)
Almost Moon by Alice Sebold. The really sad thing about this was that I LOVED Lovely Bones and Lucky, both by Ms. Sebold, and I was super excited to get my hands on her newest novel when it came out. I even pre-ordered it from Amazon and everything. I didn't really even read the description. I HATED it. I still have it on my shelf, for some reason, and I lost the dust jacket a long time ago. I keep thinking maybe I'll try it again, but I can't force myself to pick it up again.
"Follow My Book Blog Friday" is a weekly meme hosted by Rachel at Parajunkee's View where bloggers make new friends, including this week's featured blogger--Lisa @ Read.Breathe.Relax! Pop on over to Parajunkee's blog and join in the follow fun!! All you have to do is follow the featured blogger, write your own post answering this week's question, and then leave your link! Oh yeah--and then follow some new peeps!
This week's question:
Q. Let's step away from besties...What is the worst book that you've ever read and actually finished?
Les Miserables by Victor Hugo when I was a sophomore in high school. I thought I would be "cool" and read this super long book (because I was also in the musical at the time and I was a nerdy overachiever). I got SO ANGRY when they spent 50+ pages telling you all about this character and then he DIED....and that was at the BEGINNING of the book. I did manage to trudge through the 1000+ pages...but I ending up loving the musical way more than the book!
The "Book Blogger Hop" is a weekly bookish meme where you can get to know fellow bloggers! It's generally hosted by Jen @ Crazy for Books. Stop by and join in the fun!
This week's question:
Isn't a question!! Promote someone else's giveaway!!

I wanted to read Lucky but I was unable to get pasts the first pages. It was just to descriptive and I couldn't do it. I loved My Lovely Bones but since my attempt with Lucky I haven't picked up a Ms. Sebold book.

My answer is a little unusual. Come see what it is.
I think the book that was the hardest for me to read was, Wicked Lovely the first book in Melissa Marr's series.

I read Almost Moon for a few pages at the library and then put it back. Boring!

Hi, I'm a new follower.
It's funny, I really liked Lovely Bones and Lucky, but then heard such bad things about Almost Moon. So I don't think I'll ever pick that one up.

Hey! I randomly picked *your* giveaway to promote on my blog hop/ follow Friday! I hope you get lots of hits :)
I haven't read Les Mis, but I love the musical, so I'll just keep it at that!

Les Mis is my favourite musical, but I have to say, I loved the book as well... even if I did largely read it because I was a show off and it was huge ;)
I still haven't read Lovely Bones , but I really want too someday. And watch the movie! ;) One book I could not finish was some random book I bought at the bookstore. It was about witches and very bad. ;)
Happy Friday!
Old follower hopping on through!
Oh wow, that is a LONG book to have to get through and then not even like it! I remember reading The Hunchback of Notre Dame in highschool, and I hated that book too-- Pheobes was the biggest jerk ever! I liked the Disney version better haha.
You can see my FF post for this week at the link below-- hope you have an awesome weekend!

I think the worst high school book I had to read was ETHAN FROME! Yucks!!
Thanks for the tip on the contest!!
Hop on by the Wastelands! While your there don't forget to collect the clues for the Forever Books/Swag giveaway. Also don't miss your chance to enter the Winter's Shadow Signed Book/Necklace GIVEAWAY!!
Ha! I love your story about Les Miserables. Very often the musicals are better than the books. Haha. I've been wanting to read The Hunchback of Notre Dame (also by Victor Hugo) because I'm such a fan of the Disney musical version. I think your experience might help me steer clear next time I eye it at the Library.
My least favorite book was from my sophomore year of high school, too! I haven't read either of those books, but I don't think I'll be in a hurry to pick them up.
Happy Friday!

Nerdy overachievers rule! I tried to read War & Peace back in the day but couldn't make it through. Too many characters. :) Congratulations on finishing Les Mis!
Wow, thanks for featuring my upcoming giveaway! Woo!!!
Have a great weekend,
Ems

I salute all the brave souls that soldier on to finish a bad book. I could never do that. I never have and I can’t imagine I ever will.
This week’s Follow Friday question is an excellent companion to last week’s Book Blogger Hop question.
Follow me back to my blog and read all about why I hardly ever start a bad book let alone finish one – http://www.howardsherman.net
Read both my Book Blogger Hop post last week and my Follow Friday post this week and you’ll get the bigger picture of how my mind works. Don’t say I didn’t warn you! [grin]
Thank G-d It’s Follow Friday!

Hey! Old follower here.
Wow, that's a long book to get through if you don't even like it! I admire you for making it. I so wouldn't have. I had trouble finishing the novella I have in my post!
Have a great weekend! My worst read can be found here.

I actually loved Les Miserables, but it was really long. It definitely could have been cut down a bit.

I have never read Les Mis. I loved the musical though!
I think the latest book that I couldn't finish was Going Bovine. I keep hearing wonderful things about it, and then I pick it up, and it's horrible, and I'm so sad that it's nothing, nothing, nothing like A Great and Terrible Beauty, so I put it down. Then I forget how mind-wrenchingly bad it is, and hear some more folks say good things about it, and pick it up again, and rinse, lather, repeat.
Hopping through. I haven't read anything by Alice Sebold. I've thought about it, but don't know if I'll get to it.
My Hop
I must admit that I never read Les Miserables. I've been kind of ashamed for awhile. You kind of made me feel better.
